STYLE & QUALITY
Our team here was on the hunt for an affordable pair of ski goggles that are actually worth using.
We were thrilled to find the OutdoorMaster ski goggles. With a real mixture of sunny and grey overcast days on the mountain we wanted to try a few different lenses with different VLT ratings for different conditions.
These goggles are affordable making it doable to get two pairs. Yet don’t let the price fool you, the quality is not compromised in any way.
Switching out some old Oakley’s we put these Pro goggles to the test.
GOOD BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
The OutdoorMaster Pro goggles have all the features you want and need in a good ski goggle and they fit extremely well.
They get impressively great reviews, which is what got our attention in the first place.
Most reviewers give 5 stars for comfort, fit and function and we have to agree. You get a lot for your money with these goggles and they don’t fail to impress.
From design, to lenses, to optics, to breathability and fit, the Pro goggles are worth considering.
IMPORTANT FEATURES
DESIGN: SPHERICAL LENS
A Spherical Lens has a rounded bubble-like appearance that curves on both axes allowing for a more optically-correct view with minimum distortion and better glare defense.
In fact with a spherical lens there is virtually no flat spots where light can hit and create glare.
A spherical lens also provides more space between the face and the lens for improved ventilation and less issues with fogging.
All of this equates to a clearer view of what’s in front of you with no awful glare getting in the way. For these reasons spherical lenses have become extremely popular in the last several years.
OPTICS: MIRRORED
The Pro Sunny goggles are mirrored which means they have a reflective coating applied to the lens surface.
Besides looking really cool they also reflect light, which can reduce the light transmission through the lens.
Therefore a mirrored lens is ideal for use in bright sunny conditions.
Also if you need to use prescription goggles or wear eyewear underneath, the mirrored lens will help to hide these.
LENS: INTERCHANGEABLE
The lens is easily interchangeable with the magnetic changing system so you can switch them any time you want to, which is very useful if you have more than one lens for different conditions. It only takes seconds to make the switch.
Lens changing systems can really vary with snow goggles, with some definitely better than others.
We found this one to be solid. For most wipeouts it holds the lens firmly in place.
STYLE: FRAMELESS
We’re big fans of the frameless design in general. It has several advantages including:
- Excellent peripheral vision & wider field of view.
- Easier fit with helmets.
- Easier to change the lens.
OTG OPTION: YES
If you need to wear prescription glasses there is the option of OTG (Over-The-Glasses) goggles. We didn’t test the OTG option out but they do get great reviews. You can see them here.
ANTI-FOG COATED
There’s nothing worse than a foggy view from your new goggles. You don’t have to worry about that with these ones.
The lens is anti-fog coated so you’ll always have a clear view of what’s in front of you.
Typically the better the goggle the less fogging you will get so we weren’t sure what to expect from these initially. However we were pleasantly surprised that we had very little issue with fogging.
It was’t 100% perfect but it was definitely good enough and I would say even slightly better than my last pair of goggles.
100% UV400 PROTECTION
You have full UV protection with these goggles ensuring less glare and strain on your eyes.
WHAT IS UV400?
UV400 is the American Standard for sunglass protection.
UV400 will protect your eyes from both UVB rays which can cause sunburns as well as snow blindness and UVA rays which are absorbed through the lens of the naked eye.
Bottom line, your eyes are 100% protected.
HELMET COMPATIBLE
The extra long elastic strap makes these goggles easy to secure around any helmet (for both adults and teens).
3-LAYER BREATHABLE FOAM
There are 3-layers of breathable foam that helps makes these goggle very comfortable.
The first layer is a forming base layer. The thicker middle layer is breathable foam. The last layer that touches your face is a thin wicking foam.

LENS GUIDE & VLT RATING
When looking at lenses you will notice numerous VLT% ratings. VLT means visible light transmission and it’s an important consideration to be aware of.
The percentage indicates how much light the lens will let through.
So the question is:
Which VLT rating is best for you?
The answer to that depends on your conditions.
If you’ll mostly be skiing or snowboarding during the day in bright sunny conditions then you’ll want a lens with a lower VLT rating.
If on the other hand you’ll be out in low light conditions such as darker overcast days, foggy conditions or even night skiing, then you’ll want a higher VLT rating.
Conditions can change quickly on the mountain so like myself you may need two pairs of lenses to suit different weather or times of day.
It may mean changing out the lens if you start skiing in bright sunny weather, then continue on to when it gets dark or overcast.
Or you can just grab two full pairs of goggles like I did and have the other pair handy in your gear bag if you need them! 🙂
